Persona 5 coming to Japanese PS3s this Winter

Written by Chris Lock

Gamers round the world, some bearly awake, watched in dissipation to the Atlas Livestream this morning. Four new games were announced: Persona Q: Shadows of the Labyrinth, a chibi dungeon crawler for 3DS; Persona 4: Arena 2, a sequel to the loved fighting game for PS3; and Persona 4: Dancing All Night, which is… a dancing game for the Vita. While those are all fine, Atlas waited until the beary end of the stream to announce the real juggernaut, Persona 5.

No real details were given except for a small trailer showing a ball and chain around chairs. It is obscure and harrowing, just what I want from another Persona game. You can check out the trailer below and are welcome to speculate on its meaning. My thoughts: I bet this game is going to have a lot of bug catching and some killer puns.

Persona 4 was my first real foray into the Persona series. I tried my hand at Persona 1 and could not push more than 5 hour into it. So I did not expect much from Persona 4 except a beary grind heavy RPG. 80 Hours, tons of smile and tears, and an unheatlhy warm-and-fuzzy affection for Teddy, later I was hooked. I hope that Persona 5 can live up to that reputation. My one gripe is that it is coming to the PS3, I would much rather have it on the Vita. Lounging in front of my TV for 90 hours just is not as appealing as it used to be.

Oh, and no solid US release date was given.
