Spec Ops: The Line

Written by Vincent Pimentel

Yager Development and 2K Games are working on a third person squad tactical shooter based on Joseph Conrad’s novella Heart of Darkness. The Line is the ninth entry in the Spec Ops Series.  This game takes place in the near future in a sandstorm-ravaged city of Dubai. You will play Captain Walker, leader of the a small band of Delta Operatives, tasked to find a Colonel John Conrad and his 33rd Infantry Unit whom went missing. Sandstorms destroy the once exotic city, Conrad decided to stay behind and try to evacuate civilians from the city. However there has been radio silence, until six months later a faint signal comes from the ruined city.

Dubai... I knew I should've visited sooner :(

What the hell is going on?

Spec Ops: The Line aims to go another direction with gameplay. You issue commands to your squad as you navigate through out locations and random sandstorms ripping through the battlefield. Sometimes paths do get blocked because of the storm and you must find other ways around the city. You must find the lost colonel by any means; going through outlaws, storms and damaged structures of the once exotic city.

Sandstorms! I hope you brought your umbrella!

Oh, what say you Star Bangle Banner yet wave?!

  • I saw the trailer of Spec Ops The Line. It’s definitely a game that could rival any FPS even though it’s a TPS. I would assume Vincent will be keeping an eye out on this fine specimen of a game. 2K is easily becoming my top 5 studios with the upcoming Darkness 2 and now The Line :D
