Back at the beginning of June we let you know that  Big Huge Games (the developer involved in the Kingdoms of Amalur fallout) had been saved by Epic Studios. The new studio has been officially named Impossible Studios and will be headed by Sean Dunn, he says,

“Epic Games has truly embraced this stellar collection of developers who were displaced by the closing of Big Huge Games. They have looked after us with complete care, giving us all the tools and resources we need to make a lot of gamers happy.” Meanwhile,  the president of Epic Games Mike Capps said, “We were so glad we could help keep this great team together, and we’re lucky to have them.”

“At the time, I said that finding a full team of superstars was ‘impossible’ and apparently the name stuck! Pairing the imagination and experience of Impossible with Epic’s technology, IP and resources makes for a business greater than the sum of its parts.”

The studio is currently working on the iOS action RPG  Infinity Blade: Dungeons.

I’m disappointed that their IP is Infinity Blade, since I’m not a huge fan of iOS games. At the same time, Infinity Blade shows a lot of promise for a fulfilling mobile-generation born experience somewhere down the line. If anyone can do that, I think Impossible can.

Seriously. I played the hell out of Amalur, not for the story, but for it’s amazing gameplay.
