Like many of my gaming counterparts Nintendo was the first console that I could truly call my own and is largely responsible for starting my love for video games. It is this very reason that it pains me to say that Wii U Is Dead and there might not be a way to resurrect it. For years the name Nintendo has been synonymous with gaming, it was the name that those outside of the gaming world seemed to use when referring to consoles as a whole and that kind of brand recognition...
Psychonauts is one of those ‘well loved, cult classic, OMG you haven’t played…’ games. This is not without good cause. Psychonauts has on overwhelming sense of charm that carries most of the game. Unfortunately it also has several glaring technical and design problems that make it a bit harder to tolerate today. Take for example a very simple thing, jumping. While it may have been perfectly fine in 2005, it is now the weakest part of the game. The problem...

Maybe you’ve recently read (and if not go do so) Austin’s and Taryn’s posts about how video games or gaming related things got them through some tough times. Gears of War 3 helped Austin push through the pain of appendicitis and Podcast Beyond and the gaming community in general is helping Taryn to create a new life for herself. I’m here to add to that conversation. To get right to it, my parents divorced when I was younger, when I was about nine...
I’ve been playing video games for as long as I can remember. When I was in elementary school I was subscribed to Nintendo Power. In middle school and high school it was Next-Generation. As an adult it was Game Informer. While I did visit IGN sporadically for reviews, I had never desired to listen to podcasts about gaming. For whatever reason I didn’t digest my gaming info through that medium. Little did I know, that the simple act of listening to a...
We’ve all had those rare and special games that have come along at just the right moments in our lives that have touched and impacted us in some incredible and profound way. A game that redefines your favorite genre, publisher, and who you are as a gamer. These games will always invoke some form of loyalty, for you will hear no ill talk of it, and will always support future related titles. For many it’s franchises like The Legend of Zelda, World of Warcraft, or Metal...
So anyone who played the wonderful and crazy fever dream that was Saint’s Row The Third remembers the glorious blaze of glory that the one and only Johnny Gat appeared to have perished in (in a freaking airplane no less) and it was thought that Gat was gone. Well, even Death was told to go screw himself because Gat is back!…And naked!

Spicy Horse, the creators of American McGee’s Alice series, announced recently that Alice: Otherlands has a Kickstarter project going. Many fans of the Alice series, like myself, got super excited for another Alice game only to have our hearts broken. The Alice Kickstarter is not for another Alice game. It’s a project that is raising money so that Spicy Horse can buy the American McGee’s Alice film rights. The idea is to show EA that there is interest in...
