Shank 2 aka Stabby McStabbins

Written by Chris Lock

You guys remember that game Shank right. It was the one that had an egregious amount of violence and bloodshed. It also had one of the most fun combat systems that I had played with in a long time. It had a button dedicated to pouncing on an enemy so you could stab them until the life left their body. Well it turns out that Shank 2 is on its way and the combat system has been rebuilt to offer more tight gameplay as well as hopefully more senseless murder.

“Creatively, Shank still has a lot to give,” said Jamie Cheng, founder of Klei Entertainment. “We took the feedback from the community and ran with it, putting our own flavor on every change. For Shank 2, we literally took apart the game and put it back together to push the envelope in combat mechanics, visuals, and 2D animation in games.”

“We are honored to again partner with the visionary talent of Klei Entertainment,” said Jamil Moledina, Director, Business Development at EA Partners. “Shank 2 showcases their ability to blend emotionally resonant yet sardonically violent storytelling with pitch perfect controls and art design and confirms EA Partners’ strategy of bringing the best independent games simultaneously to all leading digital platforms.”

Shank 2 will also feature a co-op survival mode akin to a horde mode. This game will most likely have a great story and I will play it but what I really want is that co-op mode. Stabbing people in the face repeatedly is so much more fun with a friend and now that they can throw lots of enemies at you without the confines of a story the fun factor will be raised even more. Expect Shank 2 and a full review in early 2012.
