Just a heads up, but if you live in North America, your password may have been reset by Sony. Due to some weirdness on the network, Sony has decided to play it safe and do everything possible to avoid another debacle like the Great PSN Outage of 2011.
Interestingly enough this isn’t effecting all users and only a select few. In a statement, Sony had this to say:
“If you are getting an error that your PSN account password is incorrect, you may need to reset it, we routinely monitor for irregular activity, and if such activity is detected, we may sometimes reset passwords of affected SEN accounts to protect consumers and their account information.”
Hopefully this isn’t anything major, and you have nothing to worry about. I myself had to reset my password earlier this evening, but nothing else seems to be amiss. It’s good to see that Sony has learned from its past problems and is doing everything in its power to avoid another disaster of 2011’s caliber.
Well, at least they’re doing something to prevent another outage.
