When Little Big Planet Karting was first announced it created quite a stir. There was already a “create what you want” cart racer out there, Mod Nation Racers. While Mod Nation never reached the heights of Little Big Planet it had quite a devoted following. So when LBPKarting was announced it seemed like it was the nail in the coffin for Mod Nation. Today those suspicions were confirmed, Mod Nation is pretty much dead.
Oddly enough Mod Nation dying off may not be such a bad thing. The developer for Mod Nation, United Front Games, is actually the developer for LBPKarting. While it may have taken some time to get there this seems like the perfect match. Combining the talented team that made Mod Nation with the popularity of LBP. This does pose an interesting question too, is Sackboy Sony’s new Mario?
