Vita games ten percent cheaper on the PSN store

Written by Chris Lock

Sony has recently confirmed that the US digital releases of Vita game will be 10% cheaper than their physical counterparts. This comes as little surprise as the Japanese Vita store has had this reduction since the launch. The original story came to us from NeoGAF where a picture of upcoming Vita titles were all displayed at a discounted price. A Sony representative then confirmed the speculation saying:

I can confirm that there will be a discount on the downloadable PS Vita titles from PSN. Exact details have not yet been revealed, but be on the lookout for an announcement in the very near future.

While this was a hopeful given for Vita it is interesting to see. There has been much controversy over digital copies of games being more expensive on the PSN store than a new copy is at GameStop. It looks like Sony is addressing this and taking the first steps toward a downloadable only future that is not only easier but just plain better. While this may not be a Steam caliber sale it is going in the right direction. I for one would never go to a game store again if the games were more reasonably priced online.

What do you think. Is Sony making the right moves here? Let us know in the comments.

  • Heck yes they’re making the right moves. I always get annoyed seeing a game on Xbox Live $10.00 more expensive than a new copy somewhere else. Also with this kind of control we’ll hopefully see more Steam style sales.
