The Steamfeed: Everything Old is New Again

Written by Raven Poplar

In this edition of The Steamfeed we discover some old games that have recently made their way to Valve’s platform and also continue our theme of Free To Play from last week.

Atlantica Online

This 2008 Tactical Free To Play MMORPG looks like something straight out of Eberron. This fantasy, alternate-history, steampunky title looks like it could just be a lot of fun, maybe I should finally give it a try.

Players take on the quest to destroy the Oriharukon, a powerful energy source from the lost civilization of Atlantis that survived and is now endangering humanity. This journey will take players around the globe to locations like the Great Wall of China and the pyramids of Egypt where they will come face-to-face with monsters ripped from history and lore, such as the ruthless Egyptian Pharaoh Khufu and Dracula.

Adam’s Venture Episodes 2 and 3

This episodic adventure title celebrates its newest iteration (Adam’s Venture 3: Revelations) with a Steam release of the second title in the series (Solomon’s Secret.) Now you can play both of these games on Steam!

Adam’s Venture is an adventure game franchise that is focused on non-violent gameplay set in the early twenties of the 20th Century. With state of the art Unreal 3 graphics providing colorful and lifelike 3D environments, a gripping storyline and many puzzles to solve varying from easy to difficult, Adam’s Venture supplies everything that an adventure gamer is looking for.

Blacklight: Retribution

The lauded and great-looking F2P FPS is now out on Steam! So.. Many.. Things.. To.. Kill…

SUIT UP, SIGHT ON, FIRE AWAY

The Hardsuit is the ultimate weapon. Powerful but slow, this armored suit packs a one-shot, one-kill railgun and a high velocity minigun to clear rooms… fast. Only by using teamwork, heavy weapons from in-game Weapon Depots and the Hyper Reality Visor (HRV), can players overcome the futuristic killing machine.

DungeonBowl

BloodBowl is a great old table-top fantasy-set American Football game that has you controlling a team of supernatural creatures and trying to blast your way forcibly through to the touchdown line. This title was also released on several other platforms from 2004-2007. DungeonBowl is that same gruesome game, only set in a very dangerous dungeon!

The wizards created the Dungeonbowl as they wanted to know which Magic College was the most powerful. The game introduces some subtle modifications to the standard Blood Bowl rules. A match is still played between two teams, but each side is composed of three races. For example, the roster of a Rainbow Wizards team contains Wood Elves, Halflings and Humans. The second difference is that the first team to score a touchdown wins the match.

Endless Space

A new 4X stretegy IP from Amplitude Studios. Our own Edward Torbicki has reviewed this game and it seems to get a lot of things right.

This galaxy is ancient, and its first intelligent life was the civilization we call the Endless. Long before our eyes gazed upon the stars they flew between them, though all that remains of this people is what we call Dust. A substance found scattered or in forgotten temples, it once gave powers to admirals and galactic governors. The galaxy will belong to the faction that can take control of the Dust and uncover its secrets…

Divine Divinity

This ten year old title is finally seeing a digital release on Steam. I somehow acquired this game on disc over the years but have never played it. Another old gem to go back to, I suppose!

The game chronicles the never-ending battle between valiant heroes and the destructive powers of Chaos harnessed by the Black Ring, a cult of enduring evil. You play the role of the prophesised Chosen One who under the guidance of the wizard Zandalor must unite the seven races of Rivellon so that you may become the Divine One and stop the birth of the Lord of Chaos.

MicroVolts

This F2P FPS has you taking control of a one of the cute resin anime figurines that clutter up so many of our desktops. (Mine has Miriku from Haruhi, for instance.) You wage war in the huge battlefield of an office space long into the night when fleshies are asleep.

MicroVolts is an online third-person shooter with dynamic cartoon style graphics and intense fast-paced gameplay. Toys around the world are engaged in an all-out secret war for limited battery resources. Customize your figure and swap between 7 weapon types on the fly to earn supremacy of the MicroWorld.

And that’s it for this week folks. Stay locked to Levelsave for reviews of some of these games and don’t forget to catch The Steamfeed next week!

Video of the week award goes to: Divine Divinity
