Sony Changes Game Sharing to Game Mine Mine!

Written by Chris Lock

Sony is changing the way it does things with Game Sharing. For those of you who do not know what that is let me explain. Originally you could have five “activated” Playstations that could all play things that you bought on your account. That meant that when you went over to a good friends house or maybe had more than one system of your own you would not have to buy the game again. It worked great for multiplayer games and ones that someone else maybe could not afford. Come November 18th though the number of systems that can be active is two.

For some people having two systems activated is totally fine. The Sony hardcore, like myself, may have a bit more difficulty with this though. I have reached the five system activation limit with a bricked PS3, my current one, my fathers PS3, one that was stolen(data cleared but not “deactivated”,) and one more that is somehow lost into the either. Did I mention that you can not deactivate a system without actually booting it up and clearing it out? Did I also mention that Sony will not deactivate my systems for me? I am very curious now to see what happens after November 18th. According to Sony only two users will be able to play on an activated system, does this just mean first come first serve for some people? I do not even see what the point is in having five activated systems now. Maybe that is Sony’s goal and in that case I wonder how the eventual “condensing” of activated systems will work. At least Game Sharing was fun while it lasted.
