SIm City is Back

Written by Chris Lock

Recently at the Game Developer Conference it was revealed that Sim City was getting a reboot. Currently it is only being developed for the PC but Lucy Bradshaw, Senior Vice President of EA’s Maxis Label Had this to say

Using our proprietary GlassBox Engine, SimCity for PC will equip players with the tools to play the most sophisticated simulation of its kind. We are dedicated to making sure the experience – no matter the platform – has the fun, flavor and playability that has been intrinsic to the franchise since its birth.

Note the “No matter the platform” statement. While this may be just in reference to PC models it could mean the PS3 and Xbox.

The new game also promises to deal with real life issues such as renewable resources and climate change. There was also talk of “long lasting repercussions that go beyond your own city.” Not quite sure what this means yet but it does sound pretty interesting.

Sim City is set for release on the PC in 2013. You can pre-order it through Origin to receive the Heroes & Villans pack. It is being developed by Maxis Emeryville

Are you excited to build a city just to destroy it? What “lasting repercussions” do you think will be? Let us know in the comments.
