Pokemon Black 2 Playthrough Diary

Written by Chris Lock

In this reoccurring feature I play through Pokemon Black 2. this series will try to avoid any key spoilers in the game. However, minor spoilers such as battles and character may be spoiled. This is not intended to be a review of the game and more of a written “Let’s Play.” For this reason it is written in first person since this is my experience. Be sure to leave a comment if you feel like it is lacking in any way.

I had a goal when starting into the new Pokemon game. I knew not a lick of Japanese beyond Domo Eragato Mr. Roboto and I do not even know how to spell that properly. So the original plan was to transcribe every character into Google Translate in an attempt to understand it. After about one solid hour of doing this I finally arrived at the screen where it asked if I was a boy or a girl. Another hour of this passed by before I skipped the intro.

Pokemon Black starts off pretty quickly. So much so that I can not for the life of me remember exactly what happened. I talked to Bianca, she gave me a Tepig, my running shoes were equipped, somebody taught me how to throw a Pokeball, and the person I am assuming is my mother said it was ok for a child to go out in the wild alone.

Before I knew it I was at a farm of some sort. Not sure exactly what I was doing there but it seemed important since my rival, Chris, was buzzing around. It was kind of neat that every time I went deeper into the farm he would dart in as well. I came across some Unova Pokemon in the farm land but I also came across Generation 3 and 4 Monsters as well. Needless to say I caught every one I could.

As I reached the end of the farm I stumbled across a member of Team Plasma, decked out in black. Oddly reminiscent of the old Team Rocket. He was harassing a Herider, or maybe he was feeding it treats, I don’t know because I cant understand anything he says. When I got too close he got ran away leaving the Herider to me. The next scene has the dog Pokemon reunited with his brother near the owners of the farm, so I guess that was my objective.

Chris ran off in another direction and I assumed that was the way that I needed to go. Instead I turned around and headed back into the farm. I had seen a Rilou and had knocked it out in my haste. I was going back, Rilou would be mine.
