LevelSave Horror Movie Week 2012 is Here

Written by Chris Lock

Huh… what was- oh, it’s just you. Please, do come inside. You look cold an weary from your travels. Let me take your coat and you… you just sit right here by the fire. Oh, me? Well I am just a humble servant of the night. A connoisseur of the inky rites if you will. Let me warm you with a tale of chills and enjoy this most, phantasmal, of nights.

That is right ladies and gents, the LevelSave horror movie is back! Last year around this time I haphazardly threw together a list of movies to watch every night for one week. There was not even a post about it; only 4 people total showed up. However, this year will be different because you- yes, you- will be there with me to laugh, love, cringe, and ultimately scream with delight or fright at the movies we will all be watching together.

Here is the lowdown. On Oct 21-27 at 7PM PST/ 10PM EST the movie night will start, we can fudge it by a few minutes, but not many. At that time you will call Snickelsox on Skype and we will set up the timing. We used to be able to do this easily with XBL Netflix but no longer can; see the “Netflix Article” for details on that. You are free to watch the movie on your platform of choosing. Be it Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, DVD, or good old VHS. Through Skype we will sync the movies so we are all around a few seconds of one another. Then we watch the movies together over Skype, like one big happy family.

Several of the LevelSave editors will stop by on different nights but I will be there every night; oh the horror!

MOVIES

Killer Klowns from Outer Space- OCT-21-SUN

Evil clowns come down to a small town and start clowning around. And by clown I mean killing people in disturbing and often amusing ways. A cult classic that everyone should see at least once.

Grave Encounters- OCT-22-MON

A team of paranormal investigators go into an asylum looking to boost ratings only to find themselves being pursued by some malevolent force. A little slow to start but truly chilling once it gets going.

Dead GirlOCT-23-TUES

In this interesting take on zombies a couple of boys find a naked girl in the basement of an insane asylum. I want to caution people interested in this move, it contains graphic nudity. Really graphic nudity.

The StuffOCT-24-WED

A strange film about monster ice cream? Camp, full on camp, and nothing but sweet creamy camp.

Dead SnowOCT-25-THUR

Foreign action packed take on Nazi zombies. A couple of kids go into the mountains to find they are not alone. Quite silly, but also quite hilarious and self referential while not falling too much back on itself. Subtitled.

R-Point- OCT-26-FRI

Foreign film about a troop of soldiers looking for another lost troop in a “cursed” land. Very excellent and unnerving and makes you doubt what is real. One of my personal favorites on the list. If you do not miss one movie, make it this one.

The Thing- OCT-27-SAT

And the Coup de gras of the entire week. This film has stood the test of time, even though it has not been that long since its release. Antarctic research team encounters a terrifying alien species that threatens not only them, but the entire world. Excellent in every regard. There is a reason this is on Saturday, because you need to see this movie.

Until then, sleep well friends…
