Just…One…More…Turn Civilization 5: Gods and Kings Expansion.

Written by Kenny Rioux

We all lie to ourselves. We grow up saying to ourselves,”I’ll never get addicted to THAT“. But once you had a taste, you can’t help but just give in, and click,”Next Turn”. Seriously, in terms of addictive qualities, Civilization 5 should be the kind of stuff that gets one sent to the Betty Ford Clinic in California. Want to get heroin addicts off the smack? Introduce them to Civ 5. I mean, it may still result in them not being a productive member of society and may result in uncontrolled fits of,”ONE. MORE. TUUUUUURRRRRRRNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” before the loony bin brings over a motorcade with locks in the back and the key to the padded cell is promptly discarded like the songwriting thought process of a LMFAO record. All I am here to say via this long-winded jest, is that the new expansion of Civilization 5:Gods and Kings, is available as of riiiiiighhhht…now. This new hit from your dealers Take 2 Interactive and Firaxis games, will hook you up with some new features that expand everything from the units to new scenarios and new ways to dominate the world (and assassinate any ‘family time” you may have garnered since you last Civ 5). The two biggest touted features are both Religion and Espionage. First to the spy stuff, you will be able to keep tabs on city states using Spies. It will be their mission to ensure you get the most influence in whatever city-state you send them to. You can even stage a coup of that state if you wish. You will also be able to infiltrate other Civilizations and steal technology for yourself.

The other big addition is Religion as a way to win the game. You basically seek use Faith to develop prophets, that you use to basically expand your empire and gold count. Over time you will use religion as a way to influence other Civs, some will embrace it, others will view this as an act of war. There are many other additions that help make this great game even more awesome. You will have access to 9 new Civs to choose from, and each have their own perks and bonuses exclusive only to them. Austria for example, allows you use golf to annex an allied city-state, or simply convert them to puppet states. There are also new scenarios that you can drop yourself into, including the most exciting one, Empires of the Smoky Skies, or to put it in a more palatable term, Steampunk! AIRSHIPS CONFIRMED! The addition of new technologies, 27 new units, 13 new buildings and nine new Wonders, help round out the expansion. But it all boils down to this, if you like Civ 5, and want a new reason to slip back into the heroin rabbit hole that is hex-based strategy, get yourself some Gods and Kings. You will be glad you did, I mean your family, friends and employers will hate this game, and your kids may call a lawyer to sue you for negligence, but just remember, One. More. Turn.
