Some of the talent from People Can Fly, the studio that brought us Painkiller and Bulletstorm, have gone and started a new studio, The Astronauts. They are currently working on The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. The story so far is, you’ll be playing a detective with a psychic ability to to see what events took place at the scene of a crime after the deed has been done. You’re now on the case of Ethan Carter, a young boy who has been recently kidnapped. Following the trails of the kidnapping has led you into the mountains, where a thrashed body of one of the kidnappers is found. You must solve the string of mutilated bodies found in the mountains and get to the kidnapped boy before it is too late.

Adrian Chmielarz, the designer for The Vanishing of Ethan Carter says this about it, “What we care about the most is that the players feel like they’re really there. Immersion is our number one priority. It’s a game about exploration and discovery. We’re not abandoning the gameplay – on the contrary: we’re trying to strip it down to the bone and make sure it’s always meaningful and truly makes the experience better.”

The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is heading to PC later this year.
