Assassin’s Creed III’s hard work pays off as it breaks Ubisoft pre-order record

Written by Barry Villatoro

With many games coming out this winter, few have as much a buzz around them as Assassin’s Creed III. This buzz has come about for many reasons, new and interesting character, incredible setting for the game and an unrelenting marketing campaign. I’ma huge fan of the UFC and MMA in general, my wife and I would both look at each with a “geez it’s everywhere” look as before each fight in the UFC the past couple of months was preceded with “and brought to you by Assassin’s Creed III.”

It seems as the efforts of the PR, marketing and obviously the developers, have paid off. Ubisoft announced that Assassin’s Creed III has broken the company’s record for the most pre-orders, which was previously set by Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.

“Assassin’s Creed III is one of the most anticipated games of the year and this impressive pre-order mark is just a hint of the game’s potential,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales & marketing, Ubisoft. “When players discover the new features, historical period, characters and gaming experience that the development team has worked so hard to create, we’re confident that they will agree that this is the biggest, best Assassin’s Creed game yet.”

Not only has the game broken the company’s previous record, it’s on track to be one of Gamestop’s highest selling games of 2012.

Pre-orders for Assassin’s Creed III at GameStop are nearly 100% higher than last year, putting the game on track to be one of the top titles of 2012,” said Tony Bartel, president of GameStop.

You still have a couple of days left to get your pre-orders in with a myriad of bonuses depending on where and which version you pre-order. They will all come with the season pass which saves you about 25% off of each DLC pack. Assassin’s Creed III launches Tuesday Oct 30th on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
