THQ Sells UFC License to EA, Dana White continues to be Dana White

Written by Kenny Rioux

Yesterday, THQ and Zuffa LLC announced the transition of the UFC license to Electronic Arts. “The agreement results in an undisclosed cash payment to THQ. Additionally, THQ will continue to publish its existing console and mobile titles through March 31, 2013.”  This comes as a coup for EA and unfortunately also highlights the financial hot water that THQ has found itself in. In the past year, THQ stock went from around $4.00 per share in June 2011, to a mere 0.70 per share. This announcement also caught a lot of people by surprise, not by why THQ sold, but to whom. Those of you with good memories may remember a bit of a tongue lashing UFC President Dana White gave Electronic Arts several years ago. So with this new partnership with EA, surely Dana White would be at the ready with a big,”OH, NOW YOU BITCHES STEP UP!?!”.

“Over the last three years, THQ has delivered best-in-class, all-encompassing experiences to MMA fans, sports enthusiasts and fighting gamers around the globe with its UFC Undisputed series. We want to thank them for their stewardship of our brand.”

Here is the best part…

“We look forward to joining forces with EA to leverage their sports platform, and expand our brand in the video game space.”

Oh Dana, Dana, Dana. Always the businessman looking through the money-tinted glasses.

  • Who knows how many times Dana has done this…
Yet many people are blind enough to still take Dana’s words seriously.

The most two-faced person you’ll ever enocunter.
