How to Get the Most Cash for Your Old Video Games

Written by Austin Griffith

We’ve all been stuck in this situation: your most anticipated title releases in just a few days, but there’s a problem; you’re broke. You need cash, fast, and your only source of cash is that stack of games sitting on your shelf. You could take them to GameStop, where you might get a fourth of what you paid for them or less, or you can get the big bucks for your favorite games. Wondering how? Let me explain.

My personal favorite is Glyde; I’ve been using Glyde for a few years and it’s always given me the best prices for my games. Glyde operates sort of like a Buy It Now only eBay. You list what product you have, set your price (normally using Glyde’s suggested fair market price), and wait until someone purchases it. What makes Glyde so easy though is that they handle the mailing. A few days after your item is bought you’ll receive a mailer to put your game or item in, seal it up, send it out, and the cash will be in your account to use on Glyde or transfer to a bank account anytime.

Recently I decided I wanted to trade in Red Dead Redemption’s Game of the Year edition because I ended up with an extra copy after a weird serious of events. Let’s look at the prices I was offered.

Amazon was prepared to offer me a grand total of $7.10 for it, which is kind of a rip off considering they sell it for $25-$30 depending on when you check and I had to take Amazon Credit instead of cash. I headed over to Glyde, where they offered me more than double – $17 in cold hard cash. Obviously, you can see why Glyde is the best way to get the most money for your games. It’s easy, convenient, simple, and quick.

Don’t take my word for it, go ahead and check how much you’ll get  for the games you’ve got sitting around over at Glyde, you’ll see why it’s worth trying out – it’s also worth looking at their sales, they offer some great prices on new games.

  • I liked this article I totally agree Amazon is a rip off too, Ive sold games on there before and theyve made alot of profit off of giving me a bad price. I think Glyde is good, Ive sold some games on there also. My only criticism is that it doesnt offer a price comparison. I use price comparison sites now to sell my games because it ensures that im getting the best offer for them. There are a few good ones out there, the one I always use is Bonavendi because its easy and you can use your phone to just scan the barcodes.

Heres a link if anyone is interested: https://www.bonavendi.com/sell/b/Video%20games.html

    Anyway nice article Austin

  • I wish I could use this up here in Canada. I have a ton of stuff lying around that I would love to get rid of for more than $3 at Gamestop.
