Available tomorrow through July 15th, Defense Grid: The Awakening is the first game available as part of the new “Games with Gold” promotion. This comes as a surprise to fans who were expecting Halo 3 and Assassin’s Creed 2 to be released first. Major Nelson told fans earlier he would be looking into what titles would be released and when, and today told us that Defense Grid: The Awakening is the first. Originally released in July of 2010, the three year...
Before E3 there were very few in the gaming community who knew anything about Contrast. After the show this has changed rapidly and furiously. Of course the game was being shown at the Focus Home Interactive booth, but the amazing part for the devs of this title is that they were also playable at the PS4 booth as well as the PSN couch. With...

According to this anonymous insider over on pastebin (spotted by Reddit), the Xbox One’s family sharing – a feature that we’ve since lost – was only going to allow players in the shared group to play 15 to 60 minute “demos” of games where they’d have complete access to the game for that time period. When your family member accesses any of your games, they’re placed into a special demo mode. This demo mode in most cases...

Coming with the removal of a 24 hour check to play games is the removal of two of the most compelling features the console had: the ability to share your games with up to ten “family members” in a shared library, and the ability to play your disc games on any...
