Into the Fray: 2012 In Review (Spoiler Warning)
What a year it has been, not only for me personally but also for the video game industry itself. When I think of all the games I’ve played and all of the moments that we have experienced it makes me almost wish I would have taken more time to soak it all in and truly appreciate it . Featured here will be my favorite moments from the year past and also a few game of the year categories. We will see an overall Game of the Year, Moment of the Year, Indie Game of the Year...
Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery – Silent Commentary, Episode 3b
Thus begins the final throes of the Superbrothers’ saga. Enjoy the show and relax to the smooth sounds of Jim Guthrie as we travel along the lonely path of our reluctant hero.
Halo 4, 343 Industries, API’s, and the Greater Good of the Community
Halo 4 is the first Halo game that Bungie hasn’t had some say in, and it shows a little, but I’ll get to that in my upcoming review of the game. There’s one glaring problem with Halo 4 that cannot be overlooked as it affects thousands of people who may not even realise it: The API. An API or “Application Programming Interface” is the thing that allows sites like HaloCharts.com and The Halo: Reach Challenge Initiative to collect information about...
8 Years of World of Warcraft and Me
This post was originally supposed to be about the 8 year anniversary World of Warcraft video. A reader posted a link to it on another one of our WoW articles. No big deal, watch the video, write some info for the readers, then post. That is what was supposed to happen. After hitting play on the video below, that all changed for me. When the original title theme for WoW started, I could feel the music start to tug on my heartstrings. It had been so long since I’ve heard...
Into the Fray: Playing the Role
When you ask me what my favorite genre of game is there is never any hesitation before I blurt out 3 short letters, RPG. We’ve all played them and many of you out there love them just as much if not more than I do, but recently the line as to what truly constitutes an RPG has become quite muddled. Some say that an RPG has to have an inventory system and a true leveling system or skill tree, other people say an RPG is anything where you can upgrade your character. So...
F’in Saved 16 – Thwarted Again
I am not sure why but Curiosity has me hooked. Every day I log on and start tapping away, collecting coins, and occasionally making dicks. The exact reasoning behind my captivation has me perplexed considering I find most iOS games to be a waste of valuable game time. Even Minecraft iOS, which I have spent way too much time in, feels like nothing more than a way to dispose of minutes. Maybe Curiosity will feel the same way in a few more hours.
Batman Arkham City is a Terrible Game
It is no secret that I did not enjoy, and even disliked, Batman Arkham City. It just seemed to be lacking some spark that the original, Arkham Asylum, had. I could not understand why everyone else lauded over Arkham City and, try as I might, I just could not get into it. I was originally supposed to review the game but as I got further in I started hating the game whereas almost all of the reviews out at the time praised it for its excellence. I assumed I just was missing...
F’in Saved 15- Zalloween
So after a month hiatus F’in saved is “back.” By that I mean it will be coming as much as I can make it. As you all probably know most of the team is obsessed with zombies. We often discuss how we would survive, even when we are not recording podcasts. So this scene is… not beyond the realm of possibilities. The hardest thing about this one paneled comic was not making the new scene or adapting the character sprites but rather Taryn’s one liner...
Borderlands 2 and Justifying My In-Game Companionship
Warning: The following will be completely laced with spoilers from Gearbox’s Borderlands 2. I’m not talking minor plot points, I mean full-blown end of the game story details and the complete shebang. This is in no way a review of the game, but a small analysis of my favorite plot point in the game. I’ve been sitting on this piece for almost a month now waiting for a good chunk of players to finish the game, so if you haven’t by now, go do that.
