Xbox Live Arcade House Party 2012 Line-Up Revealed

Written by Austin Griffith

Microsoft announced it’s annual House Party line-up recently.

The new game extravaganza begins February 15th, with a new game releasing each week. While the house party normally has two or three “wow” games with one “meh” game in the bunch, this year is certainly an exception.

Starting off the house party is Alan Wake American Nightmare. Developed by Microsoft Studios, this is one of the most hyped games by the Xbox community and the Alan Wake fan base, this title is a long awaited sequel to the ever popular Alan Wake, if you haven’t played the original it’s only 20.00 on Amazon.

After the events of Alan Wake, our eponymous hero finds himself in the middle of a new adventure in Arizona, where his own words again hold the key to defeating his evil twin, the malevolent Mr. Scratch, who spreads darkness where he goes. Now more experienced at dealing with the weird and horrific, Wake is determined to turn the tide.

Second to the party is the much-anticipated I Am Alive. I Am Alive takes players on a post-apocalyptic survival story with our unknown protagonist. You’ll climb buildings, make RPG-like decisions, and much more. This is what I’m personally most excited for.

In I Am Alive, players will be challenged by both their environment and their enemies. Stamina and resource management are key when being exposed to deadly atmospheres and scaling enormous buildings in search of supplies. The unique combat system requires players to utilize intimidation: cowards are easily swayed with an empty gun, while other enemies will put players to the test.

The next game in the line up is Nexuiz, a very pretty looking shooter that looks much better than most Xbox Live Arcade games around. Originally a PC mod from 2004 and now running on Crytek Engine 3, it’s sure to be a must buy for all shooter fans.

In Nexuiz, developed by Denver-based IllFonic and powered by CryEngine 3, players will dominate opponents with their weapons of choice in futuristic arenas in which up to eight players continually alter the laws of physics by triggering 100 different Dynamic Mutators that change the match on the fly. With millions of Mutator combinations, no game is ever the same.

And finally, we have Warp. No clue what this is, other than what EA has provided.

Warp is a puzzle-based stealth action game where you play Zero, a little alien with a big score to settle! Escape the Commander and his labyrinthine facility and use your arsenal of alien abilities to stealth, stun, or explode your way to freedom.
