Tynon – A Facebook Game with Promise

Written by Chris Lock

Tynon is a new Social game from developer uCool Inc. Now I know you picked up on that word “social” and almost clicked away but stay with me here. Tynon actually looks like an interesting and innovative Facebook game.

First off this game actually has a single player story, like a cohesive narrative that does not revolve around planting radishes. The king has had a curse inflicted upon him and it is your job to save him and the empire. An elite knight, Rosaline, and yourself set out to vanquish evil from 13 different cities filled with goblins and the like. While that story is not going to win any Emmys it is more than we have seen before in this type of game.

What really has grabbed my interest is the actual combat. From the videos and screens it is obvious that there is going to be a more traditional, possibly turn based, combat system. There will also be dungeons, quests, armor, gold, and all the stuff you would expect from a normal RPG. If uCool cann pull it off this might actually be a Facebook RPG worth checking out.

There is a Farmville like portion of the game though. You must help rebuild the empire by placing buildings down in your city. The actual mechanics for this have not been discussed but from the screens we see it looks a lot like every other Farmville clone, but with buildings. Who knows, this part of the game might prove to be tons of fun. It could also be responsive for this game never reaching a hardcore audience.
