Let’s get it started!
7:01 – Running a bit late. They have not started quite yet.
7:04 – Still running late. There is a bald man on my screen. He seems very knowledgeable.
7:08 – Well, Geoff Keighley is very good at filling time. Pretty smart guy, in case you didn’t already know.
7:10- Still running late. This is a good enough time as any to ask you guys about your life. How are you feeling. What are your fears and dreams?
7:12- Is this some attempt to build anticipation?
7:14 – Jack Tretton comes on stage riding a horse. He holds up a trident and shouts “DRM, plague me no more!”
7:16- Just kidding, that never happened.
7:18- Finally got into the press conference to hear some sweet Journey music.
7:19- Smooth jazz over lots of- Oh No that’s dubstep! Lots of people trapped in geometric shapes.
7:19-Lots of games in the sizzle reel that we have seen before. Still cool though.
7:20 Jack Tretton has taken the stage to the song “Welcome to the New Age”
7:21 – People lined up at noon to be a part of this conference.
7:22- “That’s birthday and Christmas rolled into one.”
7:22 – “More than 70 million people who want to know what new on the Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita.”
7:23 – Over more than 125 PS Vita titles. “People love Vita.”
7:23 – “60% of all PS Vita titles purchased over the Playstation store.”
7:24 – Doki Doki Universe on the Vita, Final Fantasy 10 and 10-2, Dead Nation, and God of War 1 & 2 Coming to Vita.
7:25 The Waking Dead is getting a PS Vita Bundle. “Were making the PS Vita the ultimate companion piece for the PS4.”
7:26 – Showing some The Last of Us Footage. It is quite the emotional trailer.
7:28 – Now Puppeteer.
7:29 – Now Rain.
7:30 -Now Beyond. I’m happy to see new footage but it’s not exactly new stuff.
7:31-Jody, from Beyond, is one strong female character so far.
7:32 – Now Gran Turismo 6. Boasting such things as adaptive tessellation and a new physics engine.
7:33 – “It’s (the Last of Us) the highest rated game of 2012 and 2013.”
7:34 – Now showing off Batman Origins. “One night to kill the Bat 50,000,00$”
7:35 – Black Mask is the main villain. It looks a lot like the Batman you know and love. Oh, and the Joker made a cameo as well.
7:37: – A PS3 bundle for 299$ with GTA Five. Comes with the game and a headset.
7:38 – Now hyping up the PS4. Andrew House has now taken the stage to “Give Life Back to Music” by Daft Punk.
7:40 – Now hyping up the design of the PS4.
7:40 – Guess what, it was a box. It looks a lot like the PS2 standing up. People are sure excited though.
7:41 – Alright, time to talk about this “completely new platform.”
7:42 – “We focus on our fans and curate content that they love.”
7:42 – Michael Linton, CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment has taken the stage.
7:43 – Just named dropped Daft Punk, Nine Inch Nails, and Jack White. Not exactly sure what this guy is really saying beyond all the cool stuff Sony does in the entertainment space.
7:44 – Telling us there will be a new and unique programming option. Tailored to gamers. No real word on what that really means.
7:45 – Now talking about Video Unlimited and Music Unlimited. They will be available on day one on the PS4. The real question is, why?
7:47 – Redbox Instant, by Verizon, will be available very soon to the PS4. Live Event viewer will offer more On Demand content such as sports. Flixter is also coming to the PS3.
7:48 – Finally going to talk about more game? Shuhei Yoshioda came out to a Little Big Planet song.
7:49- “I am so excited to be here.”
7:49 – Greg Miller is on the main screen. He is probably dying right now.
7:50- Announcing a new IP. By Santa Monica and Ready at Dawn. Looks kind of like a steam punk london setting.
7:53 – The game is The Order 1886: The trailer had the steam punk Londoners fighting shadow goblins.
7:54 – Killzone Shadowfall trailer . Super gorgeous.
7:56- Drive Club teaser.
7:57 – Infamous Second Son story teaser. Protagonist is getting yelled at by his brother. Showed off some of the new smoke powers. Turning into smoke seems pretty cool.
7:58 – A serious sounding Knack trailer. Only 5 seconds of a deep voice.
7:59 – Knack, Killzone, and Drive Club are all launch titles of PS4.
8:00 – Quantic Dream has created a 12 minute demo, we are getting a small snippit. The Old Man we saw before is here, being a Dark Prophet and stuff.
8:01 – The old man forgot the script and wind up on a green screen. Goblin tells him “Welcome to Hell.”
8:02 – Sony partnering with Super Giant Games, creator of Bastion.
8:06- Showing off the Transistor trailer we have already seen.
8:07 – Reiterating that developers can self publish their own content.
8:08 – Don’t Starve is coming to PS4!
8:09 – Mercinary Kings, by the developers of Scott Pilgrum vs the World, Octodad Dadliest Catch will be coming, Secret Ponchos, a fighting shooter, Outlast, the crazy horror game, Oddworld New and Tasty as well, Galaxy, sidescroller open world shooter, and Ray is Dead. All those indies coming to the PS4.
8:13 – Diablo 3 will have exclusive items from Journey and Uncharted. More are coming.
8:13 – Showing off The Square Enix Versus Project. Looks a lot like a Final Fantasy game. Well, except that the gameplay looks like a mixture of Kingdom Hearts and Uncharted. Which is to say, gameplay looks amazing.
8:17 -Kingdom Herarts is now on. Art style looks the same, only improved for fidelity. Hundreds of Heartless on screen. Oh man, so many feels.
8:18 Final Fantasy 14 will be on PS3 and PS4.
8:19 – Assassins Creed 4 has taken the spotlight. Gameplay inbound.
8:21 – Chasing a man, slowly, through a crowded area. Then snuck into the forest to dispatch of them.
8:22 – He is slowly taking care of them one by one. Climbing in trees, under brush, into an eventual firefight. Then there were ships on the horizons, destroying everything.
8:24 He swept forward onto the fiery pier and vaulted on his own ship. There was an all out bloodbath… and then the game froze. They then brought out the Creative Director of Watch Dogs instead.
8:26- Got some gameplay in which a man is being told that he is being tracked. He is driving slowly around, trying not to be found.
8:29 – Aiden snatched a phone from a guy’s had who was calling the cops. Aiden then hacked a camera and helped his friend escape by hacking noise making object in the environment.
8:31 – The whole, hacking things to move them or make noise to distract enemies was taken further to allow Aiden to take out the authorities.
8:32 – Aiden just killed the power when caught, smacked down an officer with a baton, and then shot out two cop’s shins.
8:34 – Lebron James is now talking to his video game version. *sigh*
8:35 – The Elder Scrolls logo is on the screen, and nobody is mentioning it.
8:36 – Showing off Elder Scrolls Online now. It looks a lot like Skyrim, if the characters had World of Warcraft skeletons. Elder Scrolls Online is coming 2014 to Playstation.
8:39- New game. Post apocalyptic wasteland, man begging for death, one bullet left, ran him over instead. Mad Max, the game. No, I’m serious.
8:41 -Jack Tretton is back on stage. “PS4 will not impose any restriction of the sale of used games.”
8:42 – “Guess that’s a good thing?”
8:43 – “PS4 discs don’t need to be connect online to play.”
8:44 – “Will not stop working if you haven’t checked in within 24 hours.”
8:45 – People are literally standing up and clapping, Jack is just chucking on stage. This is real, This is happening.
8:46 – Your PS+ membership will cross over to PS4.
8:46 -Now talking Instant Game Collection. Member satisfaction is at 95%
8:47 -Drive Club, PS Plus edition, will be free for PS Plus member upon release of the PS4.
8:47- Don’t Starve, Outlast, and Secret Ponchos will be free for PS Plus members.
8:48 Talking Destiny right now. Gameplay trailer. Four armed aliens are scouting a wasteland. Finally behind a gun, taking it slow, taking it easy to the wall.
8:50 – Following around a glowing light in a dark tunnel now.
8:53 – The glowing light attracted all sorts of enemies, good work light.
8:55 – Co-op partner just used a power that allowed him to incinerate enemies for a time.
8:56 – Partner then died in an encounter with a big baddie. Killed the big baddie for some loot. Then used his new loot gun to impress his friend.
8:58 – A “Public Event” tag just flashed on screen after a huge warship flew overhead. Several players now killing baddies. They are all teaming up on what the call a Devil Walker. It was kinda like a giant enemy crab.
9:00 – Discussing Gaikai now. It will be available in 2014 to the PS4, PS3 and later, the Vita.
9:02 – PS4, 399$
9:04 – “The Consumer trust is central to everything we do.”
9:05 – So, we didnt see too many new games but we did see some crazy cool indie news, the fight against DRM continue, and a great price point.
