Final Fantasy XI Online: Seekers of Adoulin

Written by Kenny Rioux

Wow. So Final Fantasy XI is still going huh? Strange. I remember the days of when FF XI was first released for the Playstation 2 and packaged inside were the network adapter and the  PlayStation 2 Expansion Bay (A.K.A. a Hard Drive that moon lighted as an expensive paperweight). That was ten years ago dudes! And to celebrate a decade of MMO nonsense, Square Enix hosted a fan event in Yokohama, Japan last weekend and it was there that they announced Seekers of Adoulin, the fifth major addition to Final Fantasy XI. This promises to be an expansion that “Brings New Jobs and Worlds to an Expanded Storyline”. Two new jobs will be introduced, the Geomancer and the Rune Fencer. The Geomancer (which sounds like a magical hippie) will have a support role that seems to also have elemental attacks. The Rune Fencer uses swords and magical runes. There will also be gameplay systems such as player-built outposts, new contract work, and something that is new to the series, special “power spots” that are hidden throughout the environment for powerful character buffs. There is no price, but it is scheduled for a 2013 release and the price will be revealed closer to the launch. Any of those who are way into Manga, will be pleased to know that Kazushi Hagiwara of Bastard!! fame, will be doing the artwork for the artifact armor and weapons for the new jobs.
