Everything You Need to Know About Bungie’s “Destiny” – Release Date, Gameplay, and More!

Written by Austin Griffith

I’m going to try my best to compile absolutely everything I can about Destiny all here for you in this post. Before you do anything, watch the ViDoc below.

From what we can gather on the games Amazon page, it will be releasing on Xbox 360 and PS3 (most likely next-gen consoles too) on December 31st.

December 31st is an odd date simply because it’s after all the holidays. It might be plausible though, simply because December 31st is a Tuesday and all games come out on a Tuesday. Who knows, it’s Bungie, it could work.

The game will require an always-on internet connection to play as it is a massive multiplayer first person shooter in a realtime world. From what the ViDoc shows it looks like it a Skyrim-esque open world that changes in real time whether you’re playing or not. Since it’s always connected, friends can come and find you in the world and help you fight, then you can group up or head out on your own. IGN is reporting that you’ll be able to go to all the planets in our solar system using space travel (which you control!)…

Speaking of Space Travel, from the ViDoc we see them customizing a fleet of spaceships, and with Bungie’s love for custimization, it would make sense to allow “Clans” or squadrons of friends to group up and fight others, as there is a confirmed competitive multiplayer.

From the glimpses of gameplay we see in the video, it seems you’ll be able to join up with AI characters as well and fight some of the factions. We know of three factions already simply from Bungie’s clothing line; Seven Seraphs, Future War Cult and the New Monarchy. No clue on what they are yet, but surely you’ll be able to pick one to join up with.

As for the story, we know that the human race was expanding at an amazing rate, we had traveled throughout our entire galaxy, stretching the limits of what we could do – until something attacked. We don’t know what or why, but it hit us down and only “The Traveler” could save us. Now we’ve grown to the point where we can head back out and reclaim our world, but there are unknown forces that we must defeat.
