Who Had the Best E3 Press Conference? Let’s Let Math Decide

As E3 came and went, many of us are still puzzled as to which company had the best press conference.  I personally have been hearing a mix of people saying it was either Ubisoft, Sony, or Nintendo.  Rather than let my biases for different companies decide the winner, I decided to go a different route for 2012.  I created a grading scale which determined for me who would be the best.  The details of the scale are below, but as you can see, the big points were awarded for...

Playstation All Stars: Battle Royal Preview and Trailer

The recently announced Playstation All Stars: Battle Royal is a very interesting title. At first glance it looks like a Super Smash Brother clone and for the most part, it is. From every piece of gameplay we have seen the characters move and fight almost exactly like a Super Smash Bros. Game, even down to the way they spin when knocked back. While this blatant is a clone of the beloved Nintendo series it does have its differences. The main separation is the way you K.O. a...

Playstation Plus Gives You Tons Of Free Games This Month

When Playstation Plus was first announced there we throngs of questions. How could Sony make you pay for an optional service? What would they offer that could be compelling enough to pay for? Where are the games? Well at the mostly recent E3 press conference Sony answered those questions. Starting today Playstation Plus members can get a huge, and I mean huge, library of games Just Cause… 2. Titles include games such as Infamous 2, Little Big Planet 2, and Warhammer...

Adam Shear’s E3 Predictions Part 2: Sony

I think out of all of the game companies, Sony is the one that looks to care most about games at this year’s E3.  With PlayStation 3 and the recently released PlayStation Vita, Sony has the opportunity to deliver games that will reach both systems.  I think from all of the announcements and rumors, it is safe to say that any game on PS3 that is not pushing the hardware to the limit will also make it onto PlayStation Vita.  I think the most innovative new titles of...

9.5Mass Effect 3: Fight to Survive

The Mass Effect series may be the most ambitious project undertaken in video games to date.  The idea of decisions and save files carrying over from one chapter to another had never been attempted.  But it is not just one chapter, it is a trilogy.  In all fairness, if you have not played the first two Mass Effect games, some of the biggest and most epic moments won’t have the same impact on you.  That being said, these moments are still huge and should stir...

4.5Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City – One of Those Bad Games

The lack of buzz surrounding the release of this game should have told me all I needed to know about this game.  While Survival-Horror purists turned their nose up at the concept of this game, I held out hope that it would be something new and fun.  We, as gamers and games media, are always clamoring for something new from developers and Operation Raccoon City was that new take on Resident Evil.  The game is a third person shooter with an emphasis on action. The game is...

8Twisted Metal – Welcome Back Calypso

Twisted Metal for PlayStation 3 doesn’t reinvent the wheel when it comes to the car combat genre, but it has added some interesting new wrinkles.  New gameplay modes and the inclusion of online multiplayer allowed for the men and women of Eat, Sleep, Play to expand level design to much larger scale and the addition of Talon, the helicopter, completely changes the dynamics of team based games.   Twisted Metal is the biggest it has ever been and still maintains the...

DC Universe Online Now Free To Play

On November 2011, after a short 11 month stint of a strict subscription-based business model, Sony Online Entertainment has eagerly adopted a tiered free-to-play system for their fierce physics-based MMORPG, DC Universe Online. Executive Producer Lorin Jameson stated, on the SOE Gamer podcast, that this change “…will allow everyone an opportunity to figure out where they want to be, and how they want to pay for it.” When asked why he thought the...
