Spike VGA’s: The Walking Dead: The Game Takes Home Game of the Year

Written by Austin Griffith

The Spike Video Game Awards have ended, and the game of 2012 has been crowned. Under that crown: The Walking Dead: The Game. Telltale Games has crafted what are arguably the most emotional moments of my gaming career and they’re now being celebrated for that. Telltale has done with their five episodes what few developers can do in an entire series: truly connect us with our characters and there emotions on a magnificent level.

Telltale Games also took home the VGA for Best Independent Studio and best female voice for their portrayal of Clementine.

  • Bu.but.but. As amazing as I’m sure the Walking Dead is, it is barely a game in a lot of respects. Maybe because it was quite different it won, but man, kind of a strange pick.
