Seven Souls Online – The New “New” MMO Experience

Written by Raven Poplar

Since MMORPGs emerged from their MUDdy roots, fans of the genre who were sick of the standard format have been searching for something a little different. Korean MMOs have been paving the way for a long time in this manner with a mix of genres taking up the MMO flag. From Pangya to Dungeon Fighter and Maple Story, the Korean MMO marketplace has been filled for years with varied and unique experiences, often while retaining the sense of progress a more traditional MMORPG holds. Looking for something updated and beautiful, Korean Neowiz Games has introduced to us another such experience.

Seven Souls Online is an MMORPG at it’s core, with an expansive world to tour and intense PVP action. The way Neowiz Games defies convention is by combining elements of favourite 3D action/adventure games with the leveling and class systems often found in more conventional games of this sort. The main draw here is the combo system, which rewards the user with greater damage output for quick and accurate reflexes with the controller, unleashing quick martial attacks upon the denizens of the landscape as well as other players in various game modes.

Instanced dungeons pit solo players as well as parties against some tough monsters, while events such as Guild Tournaments and Mercenary Combat cover your PVP itch. None of this even mentions the extreme beauty of the characters and environments. Mixing ancient Eastern and Western cultures with sci-fi elements in a lushly detailed and colourful world, this game brings us a unique aesthetic style that is simply breathtaking.

Seven Souls Online is free to play on PC, so check it out.

  • I’ve tried most, if not all of em. While this may not be a completely new experience, it really is a keeper. It’s a great game, really. It has tons of potential- the glitches are something I can live with, knowing that it’s still in OB.

  • It looks similar to Dragons Nest by Nexon. I am a big fan of everything that Nexon does (Maplestory, DFO and Combat Arms mostly) and really wanted to try Dragons Nest but my PC isn’t up to the specs I need. Maybe I will be able to run this game, I will have to check out the system requirements when I get home.

    • I noticed that too and it seems to run quite similar in most of the gameplay videos I have seen. I hope it gets fixed, I really want to try it out sometime.
