One Giant Leap is the latest iOS 99-cent offering from Asobu Games, an Australian indie iOS developer.
As you first open One Giant Leap you’ll be greeted with a Minecraft-y looking eight bit moonscape, which looks quite beautiful on the 4S’ Retina Display.
That’s about the only good thing in this miserable game.
As I began making my way through the menus I was hit with multiple load times. Click World 1, loading… Click Mission 1, loading… Finish a mission and want to go to the second one? It’s not as simply as you’d think, first you have to quit to the main menu, navigate back, then select mission two. That’s about 30 seconds in between each mission.
But maybe time isn’t precious to you and you think you’ll enjoy this game. You’re wrong.
One Giant Leap is a one-touch game where you maneuver a spaceman through a dense asteroid belt and collect diamonds and try to not hit the asteroids. Sounds fun, right? Unfortunately, it isn’t. The game moves slower than a snail’s pace. It moves so slow it turns any sort of apprehension you may have into boredom. Put quite frankly, it’s too simple.
As much as I hate bashing indie developers, I’ve got to say this is one game you do not want in your iPhone or iPod Touch collection. If this sounds like something that could be fun though, go purchase Halfbrick’s free Jetpack Joyride.
Trust me, you won’t regret it.
