Dishonored 2 has just been announced with a new trailer to boot. Let’s break it down.
The trailer starts out with an image of Corvo’s mask from the original game falling in to a body of water. The mask looks a bit worse for wear, so maybe Corvo has retired, or just taken up a new mask?
Next up we get to witness a street execution of a few men, while also getting a look at some sort of roboticly sentient servitor type machine, holding a sword to a mans throat. They’re quickly excited as the screen moves on to our next visual…
A legitimitaly disgusting scene of a rotting mans corpse, complete with locust-like flying creatures leaving it. Perhaps rats have been eradicated, now leaving the citizens of Dunwall to fight against a new scourge of earth? Either way, this visual actually had me cringing. Hopefully it’s equally as disgusting in-game.
A quick shot of Emily’s variation of Blink. Arkane has spoken about how Emily and Corvo will each have completely different powers to utilize through the game, with each character also having a completely different narrative. Perhaps we’ll be able to swing Emily around Dunwall ala Spiderman swinging around New York?
We’re then greeted with our first shot of Emily, looking towards her goal.
This man, whoever he is, is Emily’s target. Maybe it’s because he knows of her true identity, or maybe he holds control over these robots that protect him and all of Dunwall?
Either way, we know it’s her. Emily Caldwell – son of Corvo Attano and heir to the Dunwall throne. At least, she was when we last saw her in Dishonored’s story mode.
Next we get a few of what appears to be an arc mine. It makes quick work of the porcelain clad robot chasing her, much to her enemies dismay.
As the room begins to transform, Emily takes up some sort of dark-matter style form of transportation. Her victim screams out that she is proving to be the assassin they all said she was, she’s proving to be one of them. Is this man a former – or current – assassin? Has Corvo’s legacy turned in to something much bigger?
Our first look at this beautiful new logo… and then…
It appears someone has found Corvo’s mask. Is this the start of something news? A pivotal new member of the team?
Or could this possibly be the child of someone Corvo murdered? A new enemy? Only time will tell. I don’t know about you, but I absolutely cannot wait til I get my hands on Dishonored 2.
