Peter Molyneux’s new experiment in gaming “Curiosity” was released recently released upon the waiting public. That waiting public gobbled it up, and subsequently broke the game. The development studio, 22Cans, is currently hard at work trying to fix the issues but it may take some time. In the mean time they released this video that semi-explains the situation while asking for patience as they address the problems.
For those of you who are not familiar with Curiosity here is the quick and dirty. It is a “game” where you break blocks that compose a layer of a larger cube. Everyone playing Curiosity is working on dismantling the entire cube, layer by layer. Inside the cube is a secret that will only be revealed to the person who breaks the last block. It is then up to the player who receives the secret to disseminate the information.
Curiosity is the first of 22 experiments that are meant to analyze the way gamers game. It is a neat concept and I want to see more. I mean I really want to see more, I would love just to play at all at this point. Aside from being a neat proof of concept, Curiosity is addictive, you should play it.
This is quite possibly the most boring game I have ever played.
It’s not for everyone. I’m hooked though.
I thought this was going to be about the Mars rover, and that it had been driven into a ditch on Mars by some gamer who had access.
