Review: Secrets of Rætikon – A new angle on acute bird watching

While drafting this review I continually hit a wall in the form of the question “How do you review a game that is all about secrets?” Secrets, by their nature, are supposed to be hidden. So by explaining why Secrets of Rætikon is good I could easily ruin it. With that in mind, I have attempted to pen this review in a such a way as to withhold the secrets while also exploring the Secrets of Rætikon. Secrets of Rætikon places you in control of a man-bird-thing. You are...

Secrets of Rætikon lets you play as a bird made of triangles

A few years ago at PAX Prime several, of the LevelSave crew members sat on a couch and played game called Chasing Aurora. We sat there for far too long, passing Wii remotes and the Wii U Tablet to and fro, hooting with dread and joy. My main memory from that couch excursion was playing a modified version of tag with our bird characters. One player would have a lanturn in their talons while the other would try and hunt them down. The Wii Remote players would share a screen...

Nintendo announced Charizard, Mega Charizard, and Greninja for Super Smash Brothers Wii U

Today Nintendo hosted a Nintendo Direct that was all about Super Smash Brothers Wii U and 3DS. Everyone was expecting to see new characters announced but none seemingly were. Then, in typical Nintendo tomfoolery, the screen faded up and hundreds of Pokemon rained from the sky like meteorites. Charizard faced against the sky and was confirmed with a “Charizard Fires It Up!” He ascended to the sky and came crashing down inches from Mario. During the fight a shadow...

Get Hype for Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number with this new trailer

When the original Hotline Miami was released it snuck right past me. The talk of egregious violence surrounding the game pushed me further away from it still. Through a Humble Bundle it ended up in my Steam library and got itself a pensive click. I immediately understood the error of my ways and proceeded to fall deep into a psychedelic killing haze. Bragging time: I actually Platinumed the game on Vita. With the ferocious love I hold for Hotline Miami, it is safe to assume...

Broforce is my kinda awesome

The past couple years have been slick with irony. Everywhere you look people are doing things they do not really enjoy for indecipherable reasons. Over time this has slowly evolved into an unironic appreciation of the ironic; this may or may not itself be ironic. In more succinct terms, the irony has backfired and made me personally, enjoy what are objectively the dumbest things. That is why, when I received an email informing me of the existence of a game called Broforce I...

Activision releases “Actual Ghosts” DLC for Call of Duty: Ghosts

In spite of April tomfoolery, Activision steamed forward and stealth released a new DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts. The DLC, named Actual Ghosts, does not have a price but rather runic symbols that feel familiar despite being untranslatable. We can expect to see a patch soon though as we are hearing cases of a glitch that causes your system to scream ceaselessly upon downloading Actual Ghosts. It contains 666 new maps, 664 of them being a single cell that your character...

5 Changes that could make Batman: Arkham Knight the best in the series

Before we begin let us get my personal bias out of the way. I loved Batman: Arkham Asylum, loathed Arkham City, and did not even bother to play Batman: Arkham Origins. With that in mind, Batman: Arkham Knight has me hopeful. Current-Gen hardware is still something of a mystery in terms of what is possible. Rocksteady could create a living world, full of secrets and joy. They could also create a stark wasteland, full of meaningless collectables and even more meaningless fetch...
