Spike Video Game Awards Winners List

Written by Austin Griffith

Earlier tonight Spike paid host to the Video Game Awards, with a slew of exclusives announced and trailers galore, we must also take a look at the winners of the night.

Game Of The Year:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – No surprises there, with the endless hours of gameplay it has it surely deserved the title

Studio Of The Year:

Bethesda Game Studios – Again, no surprises.

Character of the Year:

The Joker – He did amazing in Batman: Arkham City and definitely deserved this.

Best Xbox 360 Game:

Batman: Arkham City – Wonderful game, although I feel Gears of War 3 deserved it, I will say this is a great game.

Best PS3 Game:

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception – From what I’ve read of our Uncharted 3 review, this was the right choice.

Best Wii Game:

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword – Obvious. Zelda tends to beat anything it goes up against.

Best PC Game:

Portal 2 – Valve tends to take the (lying) cake most of the time, especially on the PC gaming front.

Best Handheld/Mobile Game:

Super Mario 3D Land – Nintendo normally does it’s Mario games right, so this makes sense.

Best Shooter:

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 – I don’t quite agree with this, Modern Warfare 3 didn’t live up to the hype in my opinion.

 Best Action Adventure Game:

Batman: Arkham City – Most deserving of the games in this category, definitely action packed.

Best RPG:

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – That one was obvious. Although Diablo may have won, had it not taken an arrow to the knee.

Best Multiplayer:

Portal 2 – Not quite sure about this one, Portal 2 didn’t really have “multiplayer” in my opinion, just co-op.

Best Individual Sports Game:

Fight Night Champion

Best Team Sports Game:

NBA 2K12

Best Driving Game:

Forza Motorsport 4 – Forza always sets the bar high, no exceptions here.

Best Fighting Game:

Mortal Kombat

Best Motion Game:

The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword – Again, Zelda always dominates the competition.

Best Independent Game

Minecraft – While I voted for Bastion, Minecraft is a great game.

Best Adapted Video Game:

Batman: Arkham City

Best Song In A Game:

Bastion: “Build that Wall (Zia’s Theme)” by Darren Korb – This is a great song, I personally listen to it a lot, you can listen/purchase the song here.

Best Original Score:

Bastion – Again, great music in Bastion. I frequently listen to it in morning.

Best Graphics:

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

Best Performance By A Human Male:

Portal 2: J.K. Simmons as Cave Johnson – Cave Johnson was hilarious in Portal 2.

Best Performance By A Human Female:

Portal 2: Ellen McLain as GLaDOS – GLaDoS is one of, if not the absolute, best character in Portal 2.

Best Downloadable Game:

Bastion – I loved it. Give it a try, DLC coming too.

Best DLC:

Portal 2 Peer Review

Most Anticipated Game:

Mass Effect 3 – While I’m personally more hyped for Halo 4, I can see where this comes from.

Gamer God Award:

Blizzard Entertainment – Making games like Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo as well as countless add-ons and DLC

Video Game Hall of Fame Inductee:

The Legend of Zelda – Zelda was, to quote the VGA’s host, a game so amazing they chose to call it a legend before it was even released. Definitely deserving of being in the Hall of Fame.

  • Skyri didnt deserve the title, of GOTY me as a ps3 gamer am very dissapointed with skyrim and bethesda they should have delayed it instead of making a bad and defective product

    • I haven’t played Skyrim yet, but you’re right. It’s jacked that they released an almost broken (what I’ve read and been told) game and it wins GOTY.
