Bungie has just released their new Community Thank You video, and in it came a slew of new gameplay and ever before seen places and things. Let’s break down what you just saw.
I’m going to walk you through each section of the video, excluding the parts that aren’t gameplay.
First off at 0:30 we see a large orange monolithic temple. The orange and red hues leave me to believe this is a shot of somewhere on Mars.
0:35: We see a grassy stone area, which looks to be earth. Further reinforced by what appears to be a downed helicopter on the right.
0:40: Back to Mars! This is definitely taking place on the red planet. The beautiful vistas just waiting to be explored are making my mouth water.
0:42: We see a Titan performing some sort of quick teleportation move, akin to Dishonored’s Blink power.
1:30: More gameplay from what appears to be the other side of Old Russia’s Wall. We see four characters fighting together, and one drops a bubble shield device to protect them.
1:33: Knifing looks powerful and fun.
1:39: Sliding looks fun. I’m noticing a lot of similarities to Dishonored. Maybe we’ll see some element of stealth as well? Parkour would be fun too.
2:06: This is definitely the Moon here, and from the “We can’t wait to show you what’s next” tease before that, we’ll definitely be learning a lot about that soon.
So, what did we see exactly? It may not seem like a lot, but we saw in those small few seconds more of Destiny then we’ve seen for a long time. Mars and the Moon look like amazing places to team up and take down some baddies, and the gameplay looks smooth as hell.
Did I miss something? Let me know in the comments if you found something I didn’t.
Destiny is DEFINITELY my most anticipated game. I only hope that the game has the depth, scope, and vastness that it seems to have. I remember being so amped for The Last of Us (I LOVED it!!!) and being so convinced that their “clan” feature was going to be an actual, fleshed-out clan system where you could play in a sort of open world with your clan-mates, when it only turned out to be a gimmicky feature that didn’t serve much importance…but it wasn’t -.- ( I may be missing something though! :P)…although I still loved the game more than anything else that I have played in a very very long time!!
I am praying that Destiny will be at least *close* to a seamless and never-ending exploration feel with your Guardian friends. I love sophistication and I detest over-simplicity. I want to feel invested in my character! :D With a mind-blowing and over-the-top emotional storyline. No doubt our beloved Bungie will surpass expectations.
TL;DR: I’ve gotten my hopes up too high for other “most anticipated” games and was kind of let down. I cannot be any more hopeful that Destiny provides an amazingly meaningful experience that lasts quite a long time.
