Earthbound Finally Released on Virtual Console

Written by Matt Curione

The day that many a Nintendo fan has been waiting for is finally here, with the SNES classic Earthbound being made available as a digital download for the Virtual Console service. Available now on the Wii U eShop for $9.99, the release will end years of pleading from the games’ ravenous fans.

As an added bonus, the game guide that was included with the original cartridge will be made available on Nintendo’s website. The guide has been optimized for use with the Wii U GamePad which is a nice added touch as well. The guide can be found here.

Earthbound has been rumored for re-release for years now, and it’s great to finally have the opportunity play it without shelling out hundreds of dollars on eBay or shady emulation. So dust off your Wii U, join up with Ness, Paula, Jeff and Poo and save the world from Giygas!

Oh, and watch out for that big bee!
