Let’s be honest with ourselves, fighting games have gotten far too flashy in recent years. Gone are the days of the simple punch-kick-jump attack, replaced with combos and special moves that require as much memorization as a microbiology exam. One True Game Studios have set out to change all of that with the release of DiveKick for PS3, PS Vita and PC. This two button fighter will seem overly simplistic at first but it starts to reveal layers of strategy and depth once...
Most Wanted Entertainment proudly presents bitComposer’s helicopter extravaganza, Thunder Wolves, which has now landed on the PlayStation Network. Strap yourselves in and prepare for a wild aerial arcade-style action shooter. Along your flight path of destruction you will also experience varying modes of gameplay, keeping the campaign fresh and exciting as you progress including some rail-shooting and sniping segments, as well as piloting a few other vehicles. With...
Pool Nation, from developer Cherry Pop Games, has come to PlayStation Network and as you may have guessed, it is a billiards video game. Perhaps billiards simulation is a more accurate description. Aside from the disembodied floating pool cues, Pool Nation is perhaps the most true-to-life pool based video game available right now on consoles. When boiled down, there isn’t that much to a game about pool. There’s the table, the cues and the game...
The mighty Spartan warrior Kratos has returned! This time however, he is not on a warpath to exact revenge and bring about the destruction of Mount Olympus. Rather, God of War Ascension is the story about the beginning of the hardships and woes of our fearless hero, though you may not know that because it is easy to feel ‘not quite up to speed’ by the end of the opening cinematic; this tale seems to start midstride. Taking place over an entirely different storyline than...
2011 saw the release of the film Drive, and it became an instant favorite for myself and many others. A lot of people took notice of Nicolas Winding Refn’s mesmerizing film, especially it seems Jonatan Söderström and Dennis Wedin of Dennaton Games, as Hotline Miami is love letter to the almost beautiful brutality of that film. Originally released on PC in October of 2012 and subsequently nominated for and winning a slew of year end awards, Hotline Miami has finally...
The Last of Us may well be the pinnacle of this generation’s games. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever laid eyes on, and in so many ways. It transcends everything that previous Naughty Dog games have been and is maybe, in some respects, what they’ve tried to be. The story that the Last of Us tells isn’t necessarily a new story, especially in movies, but it is a new perspective. Never before in this sort of tale does the viewer, or in this...
Doom 3 is back and it is better than ever. Now completely re-mastered for the 20th anniversary of the series, and packed with all sorts of extras including eight brand new levels together called The Lost Mission. If that’s not enough, Doom 3 BFG Edition also includes the Resurrection of Evil add-on, network multiplayer availability, as well as the classic Doom and Doom II games. Let me start by saying that I absolutely love this game. I first played it when it was...
Your target is a wealthy aristocrat and owner of a lucrative whaling business. He’s not a problem to you, just an end to a means in finding out who the mysterious Delilah is. The outsider told you to find her after you murdered Empress Jessamine Caldwin. While this man knows nothing about the women you seek, he did purchase a ship by the name of Delilah quite a while ago. He knows something, and it’s up to you to find out what. You drop down from your hiding, a Butcher...
Have you ever wanted to hunt down Fallen Angels that possess unimaginable power. Aided by weapons and armor granted to you by God himself? No? Well anyways, now you can live that fantasy out. You’ll play as Enoch through the course of El Shaddai. A human given the herculean task of saving the world from a “Great Flood.” In order to do so he must defeat and purify the Grigori, a sect of Fallen Angels who were, at one time, tasked with protecting the Earth...
Golf clap for Atlus, seriously. This is easily one of the most enjoyable and addictive games so far this year. Catherine is completly done in anime. Most of it is done in superb 3D rendering. That easily puts the 2D cut-scenes to shame. Although, there will be some fans out there that appreciate some of the 2D cut-scenes. The game begins with you playing as Vincent. Stuck in a freakshow of a nightmare with himself being part sheep, as well as being surrouned by...
