The search for the perfect listening environment seems to go on and on for a lot of music fans, especially when traveling. Listeners are forced to choose between a number of expensive ear phones that are large and hard to travel with, or smaller earbuds that trade their small size for sound quality. Jason Kiger designed Cherubs in order to get around this dichotomy. As a music aficionado and frequent air-traveler, he sought to produce a travel-friendly listening...
“Drip, Drip, Drip” Halo’s fictional universe is vast and detailed, with stories filling in the gaps between the games and more. In the build up for the series’ next release, Halo 5: Guardians, Microsoft and 343 Industries has once again taken to viral advertising to fill in more of these gaps. This time, using audio diaries and images, we are invited to join fictional reporter Benjamin Giraud as he recounts the history of Halo’s hero: The Master Chief...
Review: 3D Realms Anthology – Part I: 3D Realms (or Apogee Software, LTD as it was known officially) is a company that needs little introduction. Anyone who played games on the PC in the 80s and 90s has most likely played a game from 3D Realms at some point, be it intentionally or by virtue of their friends. They were champions of the shareware style of game distribution, allowing users to try out their many titles for free (on a limited basis) before buying. Often...

There are few groups of people out there that deserve to unwind with some video games more than those who serve. Be it active military personnel or veterans who have come home, these brave men and women are a big part of gamer culture. Those injured in combat are often left in a condition that makes enjoying things like video games a difficult task, while others make it home safe but find their return to civilian life a difficult transition. All veterans deserve to live...
Bullet Hell. A common accolade and complaint leveled at the Shoot ’em Up genre games (sometimes called SHUMPs by people with an affinity for acronyms). Plenty of games have paved the way in the years since the days of Spacewar! and Space Invaders. The game type usually has two pillars that every game that aspires to the genre must follow: the player must shoot as many enemy units as possible while avoiding sizable return fire or numerous obstacles. I’ve played...
Avengers: Age of Ultron hit theaters this weekend, assisting Furious 7 with kicking off the summer movie season. Age of Ultron may perhaps be the highest profile movie during the usual blockbuster-laden time, and LevelSave’s Austin Griffith and myself have assembled to discuss our thoughts. Warning: full spoilers for Age of Ultron as well as all previous Marvel movies are fair game.

Following up on last week’s PlayStation release, Yacht Club Games has also launched their side-scrolling platforming adventure Shovel Knight on the Xbox One. I had the opportunity to follow-up my review of the game by playing much of the Xbox One version, and I’m happy to say that the experience is nearly identical to the other versions, while also including platform-specific features such as Achievements. This release, much like PlayStation versions, features...
