Conquer Endless Space July 4th

Written by Raven Poplar

A radio crackles to life somewhere deep in the heart of the S.S. Auralia. A thin, tinny voice wafts through the stale, dusty air of the metal hulk, reverberating off the walls of long corridors barely joined together by Econo-Spacepoxy. The message fades, the radio beeps, and then lights up again, repeating the message in an infinite loop. It is a mayday call that will never be answered, for your foes have been devastated. Every faction now fears your name, for your name is Genocide.

If you’ve ever played a 4X game (like Civilization, for example) then you know that the utter annihilation of everyone is only one victory condition, and that there are other ways to raze the universe to its knees or lift it in exultant glory. But you’ve played them all, haven’t you? You’ve beaten Galactic Civilization II in every way possible, and destroyed countless gods in Warlock: Master of the Arcane. You’re bored, but don’t worry: There’s a new kid in town.

The latest 4X space strategy game, Endless Space, is set to be released July 4 following a highly successful Beta testing period that had over 20,000 users battling for supremacy of the Known Universe. So buff that Admiral’s pin and straighten that Earth Navy jacket, for we are about to embark on a voyage of conquest once again.

Having our own Levelsave writer, Edward Torbicki, participating in the Beta period means that we will have a unique look at the inner workings of the game. We will also have a review sometime before the game’s release date, so stay tuned!

Also, this game will be the first Amplitude Studios title to utilize the Games2Gether platform. This will allow users to stay updated on what the devs are doing. (So no more 3 hour bowling and pizza lunches, guys!)

Endless Space will be available on digital download platforms on July 4, 2012 for $29.99 USD.
