Oh Diablo 3, you sure had a hell of a first week out in the wild blue yonder that is the PC Gaming world. I mean, you sold 3.5 Million copies in the first 24 hours, coupled with the 1.2 million that got a copy as part of World of Warcraft Annual Pass promotion and well, you have been making a couple of shekels to rub together. Oh and the numbers don’t stop there Mr.D3. As of week one, you accumulated a whopping 6.4 million players at your beck and call. This represents the biggest PC Launch celebration in history. That doesn’t even include the Korean Internet Game Rooms where Diablo 3 represented 39% of the games played as of May 22. And in a country where at this point, Terran, Zerg, and Protoss can now practically be classified as a religious inclination, that takes some doing.
Notice earlier I said “biggest” and not,”successful”. I mean there was that thing and all, but hey, as long as the bean counters at Blizzard are happy, so too are the major shareholders and anyone else who is making money off your @$$. So carry on Diablo, I know it is still early days and there is still a big journey ahead of you, with lots of loot to obtain. And if it gets too much, at least we will be able to look back and laugh.
