Who doesn’t love pinball? I mean seriously. This is a real question. Everyone loves it, it’s like pizza and don’t you dare say you don’t love pizza.
Zen Pinball 2 just came to PS3 and Vita this week and it’s hella fun. Being able to play, not just pinball, but a great game of pinball everywhere is fantastic. It has cross-play, play multiplayer from your Vita or PS3. It has cross-purchase. Cross-purchase. Buy a table one time and have it on both platforms. Also downloading Zen Pinball 2 is free. Free. You can then demo any table and buy what you like the most. A single table can cost $2.49-$2.99. That’s about as much as an energy drink and those are bad for you. There’s also table packs that will run you just shy of $10, but that’s for four tables. So, the price remains the same. Trophies and hella fun for $2.50, now leave me alone and go start playing. You want a real review? Fudge, ok.
So like I said, there are tables you may purchase individually or buy the tables that only come in a pack. Demo some first and find the ones you like most. Each table has been created completely different then the next. No re-skinning here. Each table plays, looks and sounds completely different. The visuals are pretty great honestly and all the ramps, rails and details tend to pop out.
I have one problem with this game and it’s that I’m treating these tables as Pokemon, I now want them all. I ended up with the PvZ table, Excalibur and the Street Fighter 2 table and they are all very enjoyable. The Plants vs Zombie table is by far my favorite. I may have only purchased a couple but I’ve demo’d all of them and it’s the best, to me. I am a huge PvZ fan already and to see some of my favorite plants and zombies on the table was great. Each table has different “events” that can triggered during gameplay. Once you wake the Sunflower up you start collecting sun and even purchase items from Crazy Dave to prepare for the inevitable zombie wave. Hit Dave’s car twice and the trunk pops open. Slam your ball into his trunk to open up his shop and buy items to help you out. The iconic music and sound remains the same, it’s PvZ completely.
Zen Pinball 2′s tables are cheaper then a lot of Minis and have trophies. There’s no reason to not check it out. You have bedtime pinball, break time pinball, ignore the kid pinball, it’s great.
As a quick aside, when turn your Vita to make it vertical, the screen flips and you can play with an elongated field of view. Which made me wonder, could it come to iOS in the future?
