You may be thinking, “Seriously Capcom, do we need another version of the same game?” Yes you do, because this version rocks. UMvC3 Vita looks incredible. INCREDIBLE. Did you get my point with the caps lock? This may be the best looking Vita game that I have seen. Before you freak out, it’s the best Vita game that I have seen. 60 FPS of gorgeous action. No hiccups here. It’s so smooth, you can’t believe it’s not butta. Bright, sharp, clean, pretty, very pretty.
It’s nearly a perfect port in terms of the controls. With less buttons some changes had to be made, but not enough where the gameplay is hurt by it. In fact, after couple rounds you may not even care. The four face buttons equate to a light, medium, heavy and special attack. The special attack is mainly used for launching air combos. The shoulder buttons are used to call in your teammates and launch the crossover attacks.
Also an “easy” mode has been added with touch controls. Different areas of the front and back touch pads are used for different attacks and combos. For instance, tapping the lower left hand of the screen starts a combo that ends with a super move. Tap to attack. That’s it. Now don’t worry it is severely scaled down in online battles. Online battles still fall on your shoulders, no help there.
Speaking of online battles, the online functions great. I haven’t had a problem finding a fight or any problems with lag. Although finding an active lobby can be hard to find. You may want to check out some fan forums to get one going.
I won’t draw out this review since this is a re-release of a game and has already been reviewed for the PS3 and Xbox 360 by us here. I will say I’ve played this more on my Vita than anything else, besides PvZ and I enjoy the hell out of it.
