Rotolla is a quick paced puzzle game with a very easy-to-grasp concept. The layout is a large hexagon with sever al different colored symmetrical blocks that fall from the center. They land around the inner perimeter and the premise is to turn and stack these blocks within the hexagon matching each color to eliminate them. If you do, you level up. If you fail to do so and your stack reaches back to the middle it is game over for you!
While this little game may be simple to understand, it is not so simple to beat. Often or not, you tend to get stuck after a single misplacement of blocks or if it is just not dropping the color you need at the time. There is strategy to Rotolla and once you catch on it can be very addictive at times! I find myself playing this game just to past time because it is simple, and sometimes simplicity is key.
The design of Rotolla is something I cannot fail to mention because it is extremely polished and vivid. The developers at Prior Games definitely did not stop there, they decided to hit it out of the park with an awesome up-beat soundtrack composed by Akira Yamaoka of the Silent Hill series. The music definitely ties the pretty little ribbon on this hidden gem of the App Store, and if you are a sucker for puzzle games or are in the market for a simple game to just pick up and play you cannot go wrong with Rotolla.
